Cranking grass or timber has been a very effective method for catching fish since the first lipped lure hit the water. And for just as long cranking that same structure has frustrated fishermen. Now the LIP GUARD SYSTEM eliminates that frustration, and allows you to crank water that was almost unfishable before. We use a weedless hook made specially for cranking. The fine wire protects the hook point from grass or timber, but collapse easily when fish bite down. By running your line through the eye on the Lip Guard Wire and then tying it to the split ring as you usually do, the Lip Guard Wire protects the lip, keeping debris from hanging. Combining the two makes the lure virtually weedless.
